Financial Assistance

St. James Academy exists thanks to the efforts of many families committed to seeing the Catholic faith passed on to future generations. Our goal is to keep Catholic education at St. James Academy financially within reach of all families who are interested in a faith-based education.  We are very thankful to the priests of Johnson County for helping to make this possible through parish subsidy.

The formula and criteria for determining need-based financial assistance is the same for all three Johnson County High Schools (Bishop Miege, Saint Thomas Aquinas and St. James Academy). Generally, the amount of assistance for which a family qualifies will be the same at each school.

Facts:

  • Historically, 30% of the students at St. James Academy receive financial assistance.  90% of those who applied, nearly 200 students, received assistance for the 2009-10 school year.
  • Awards are based on need.  The maximum award is generally half of tuition.
  • To be considered for assistance, parents must complete the application and submit a copy of their 2009 tax return.  Deadline is April 1, 2010.  Applicants must reapply each year.

  • Applications are available on our website under Admissions/Financial Assistance.  Or call Mrs. White at 913-254-4258 to request an application by mail.

  • Applications are processed by the Finance Director and approved by the President.  All information is kept confidential and we ask that awards also remain confidential.

  • Applicants will be notified of awards by mail.
