Grading system

Grades are reported in percentages and no letter grades are given. St. James Academy does not issue letter grades. Schools that need to convert to a 4.0 or letter grade system should use the scale that is used by the NCAA Clearinghouse. That scale is the traditional 90-100=A, 80-89=B, etc. Grades below 67% are considered failing. A bonus of five (5) percentage points will be added to the final grade of an honors course if the grade is 77% or above.

The following standardized tests have been given to our students:
PSAT Grade 11 (required)
Grade 10 (optional)
PLAN Grade 9 (required)
Grade 10 (required)

Accreditation

North Central Education Association

St. James Academy is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling and fully endorses the Statement of Principles of Good Practice.

Christian Stewardship Program

This comprehensive program includes research, scripture study, service, reflection, a written report and a presentation. Each student will pick one service project yearly consisting of approximately 30 hours of service from one organization to be performed outside of the school day. Punctual completion of all requirements will figure largely into the grade earned. This project is a requirement for graduation from St. James Academy.
