Dances
School dances are for sophomore, junior and senior students only. Freshmen students can attend mixers and will have a semi-formal dance each year. With the exception of Fall Homecoming, Sweetheart (Women Pay All) and Prom, dances are for students of St. James Academy students only.
Guests for Fall Semi-formal, WPA and the Spring Semi-formal must be registered in advance by completing a guest approval form. The St. James Academy Activities Director will have final approval of all guests. Registered guests must abide by the same school regulations and policies as a St. James Academy student.
- Once a student or guest leaves the dance/mixer, he or she will not be readmitted and must leave the school campus.
- Students must arrive at dances no later than one hour after the starting time in order to be admitted.
Standards of Behavior and Dress
All school-sponsored events, including mixers, dances or athletic events require students and their guests to abide by school rules and regulations regarding behavior and appropriate dress. Christian modesty is expected at all times.
- At mixers, students may wear jeans or casual dress unless otherwise specified. Clothes should fit appropriately.
- Appropriate dress for a semi-formal dance will include dresses for young women and slacks and a tie for young men.
- Students should treat each other with respect. Inappropriate physical contact and suggestive dancing will not be allowed.
- Drugs, alcohol, chewing tobacco and smoking are not permitted. If there is evidence of use or possession of alcohol/drugs the police department, school administration and parents will be notified.
