SJA Community: The finals matchup with Aquinas became a reality after Lady Thunder beat Wichita - Kapaun Mt. Carmel (KMC) 4-1 in a hard fought game Friday night. KMC came out swinging in the first 20 minutes, controlling most of the action, winning most of the 50/50 balls, but our defense held nicely. We were playing very timidly to this point, but we turned the tide in last 20 minutes of half one, and began to assert ourselves, creating a number of opportunities. Our pressure continued into the second half, and Nicole and Bethany scored within a minute or so of each other. Goals by Nia and Faith busted the game wide open, to seal the win. We had a lot of players contribute tonight...I think KMC has a really good team, as they showed in the first half, but I think we wore them down...their big gun Kastor, who is an excellent player, scored a nice goal with about ten left.
