2011 Girls Junior Varsity Softball Team

Head Coach Kerri Elstun
Coach Elstun holds a MS in Education from Baker University as well as a BSE from Emporia State University. She is in her sixth year as a head coach of the Thunder girls softball team following four years as head coach and four years as an assistant coach at Shawnee Mission North High School. Coach Elstun also served two years as an assistant coach at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. She has taught Biology for a combined total of 14 years, two of the years at St. James Academy and the other 12 at SMN.
While in high school, Coach Elstun was a three sport letter winner for St. Thomas Aquinas. During her senior year in high school, she was named to the All-Sun Country First team and All-Metro Second team for softball.
After high school, Coach Elstun played softball at JCCC then transferred to Emporia State University where she finished her softball career.
Coach Elstun resides in Lenexa with her husband Doug and son, Brooks.
The St. James Thunder play their home softball games at JCGAA (Mid-America West).
Assistant Coach: George Young
Coach Young is currently retired from Education after 35 years of teaching. Coach Young holds at BSE degree and a MS degree from Emporia State University. He also holds a degree in administration from the University of Kansas.
Coach Young began his teaching career at Axtell, Kansas where he coached and taught Social Studies for three years. For the next 30 years, Coach Young taught and coached football, baseball and basketball while at Wyandotte High School in the KCK school district. Coach Young finished his career at Shawnee Mission North where he taught and assisted in softball for two years.
Coach Young also has ten years of coaching ASA summer softball experience and has been the varsity assistant softball coach at St. James Academy for the last five years.
