Good luck to the growing St. James Academy Boys Swim and Dive teams this week at the Kansas State High School Association's 5A-1A meet. Coach Kellee Hercules says the extra swimmers this year have pushed one another to a whole new level.

At state diving preliminaries on Thursday, Junior Cole Feldman will compete starting at 2:00 p.m. Mrs. Deanna Zechman joined the Thunder squad this year as Diving Coach.

On Friday morning, at 10:00 a.m. swimming preliminaries will include individual entries from St. James in the 200 Yard Individual Medley, 25 Yard Freestyle, 100 Yard Butterfly, 100 Yard Freestyle, 500 Yard Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, and 100 Breaststroke. There will also be Thunder teams in all three relay events: 200 Yard Medley Relay, 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, and the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.

The team will be represented in individual events and relays by Seniors Peter Beatty, Kyle Chadwick, Sam Frederick, Andrew Kinskey, Adam Loya, Josh Larson, and Liam Martin; Juniors Luke Deggendorf, Brett Gillespie, and Heath Maginn and Sophomores Peter Kinskey and Colin Martin.

Individuals and relay entries finishing in the top 16 on Friday morning will advance to Saturday morning finals starting at 10:30 a.m. All events are held at the Capital Federal Natatorium in Topeka.

With so many entries in nearly every event, the Thunder should finish with the highest team place in their history. Come cheer on the Thunder and watch history in the making!
